Silly questions to ask a pilot/instructor
I know you guys(including girls) are quite interested and curious to know about a pilot's life, pilot's working place, pilot's job,......
But certain things... please~~~~ I beg you all, please~~~~ Place some common sense in your mind before you asking a question. Most of the time, we, as a pilot will be the one facing difficulty in answering it.
Some, may continue to entertain your silly question.
Some, may be sarcastic in front of you.
Some, may be straight speak towards you(well, may hurt one's feeling if too straight forward//will embarrass one if in front many)
Some, may just trying to stand up and walk away when he/she can't stand with the questions anymore
Some, may .....
Hopefully you all will read up... At least, it helps to improve your question in asking. =D
Example of the questions(TOP 5 questions):
1.
Question: Can you help me to check for the air ticket? How much? Can help me to buy?
Answer: Pilot is flying the aircraft. Ensure passengers' safety when on board ( Okay, on board!!** I will come to this later). We ain't the one decided for how much is the ticket price for today. We ain't the one selling the air ticket. Please go to airport and buy it/ online booking/mobile booking...
2.
Question: Wao!! You're a pilot now, hey, we're friend for so long already, give me some free ticket~
Answer: Excuse me!!! I fly the aircraft doesn't mean i own the company!! I have no right to say for it!!! Are you going to tell me if you're a cashier in XXX shopping mall, then whatever i've chosen, you can count me RM0.01 each? Even i own the company, standard operating procedure please!! Go and buy the ticket yourself whichever way you know and whenever there is a promotion price if you wanna save up. If everyone said they're my Hi-Bye friend, the company will then go bankrupt soon!!!
3.
Question: Pilot..So you're working at XXX Airport then?
Answer: We're not working at airport. We're working with the company. If the company is an airlines, we are working with the airlines located at YYYY ; If the company is a flying academy, then the office is at WWWW. Most of the time, the work place will be in the air(cockpit / aircraft) due to flying. Common sense will tell you that we can never fix at an airport since we're flying, isn't it? Therefore, tell me how can we still work at XXX Airport then?
4.
Question: Can you tell me which way to the washroom/to ....?
Answer: Hey, hey~~~! We're first time in this airport as well. We fly to this airport doesn't mean we know every single corner in this building. Instead of you, I also need people to tell me the short cut to XXX place. Whichever it is, can you just read the symbol of washroom/...? I believe there will be an international language-English signboard somewhere. Else, raise your head up and seek for the symbol of washroom/...
5.
Question: I have lost my luggage! Did you see it? What am I supposed to do?
Answer: Erm... Go to the information counter and check it out with them please. I'm not a security of this airport. If you see the uniform and you know we're pilot, don't ask this question to us as well. We are ensuring your safety on board but not ensuring your safety, your belongings throughout your journey. There are a lot of departments in a company. It's not under our control when you lost your luggage. Read up the 'questions normally be asked' / ' HELP' from the airlines website please. There's a guide there/go to the information counter please, they're 'informative' enough.
Forgive us, sometime as a pilot, we're really new at majority of the airport. We're trying to figure the destination(on ground) by ourselves as well.
Forgive us, as a pilot, we fly the aircraft. Air tickets, gifts,... ain't under our control whether to give you free or not.
Forgive us, as a pilot, we're ops dept. . A company does have lotsa dept., please seek for the right dept. and go for it, can?
Forgive us, sometime we do need the cooperation in asking us question as well. =)

America's Safest Airlines
To begin with, every major U.S. airline is safe. Very, very safe. David Castelveter of the Air Transport Association of America says the "safety of all U.S. carriers is the best it ever has been" and that he "would not hesitate to fly any carrier." And indeed, when you look at the numbers, commercial air travel in the United States today is about as safe as it gets.
Incidents do happen, just very infrequently. And actual accidents are extremely rare, especially ones with fatalities. According to AirSafe.com, the last fatal crash of a commercial U.S. passenger plane was on Feb. 12, 2009, when a Colgan Air regional plane operating as Continental Connection Flight 3407 crashed into a residence in Buffalo, N.Y. The tragedy left 50 people dead, including 45 passengers, two pilots, two flight attendants and one person who was in the house at the time.
We thought a useful exercise would be to look at all of the documented incidents involving commercial U.S. passenger flights in 2010 and then rank which airlines fared the best. It would have been overly simplistic (not to mention, lazy) to leave it at that, so we decided the results would be more accurate if we disregarded the incidents where the airlines weren't at fault. It's not really fair to blame an airline when the incident is the result of a bird collision (33 of them last year, sometimes leading to more damage than you'd think), an unruly passenger (36 cases) or a medical emergency (31 incidents). There were also several episodes of turbulence leading to injuries, and even five instances where a flight was struck by lightning.
Keep in mind, even the incidents that did make the cut should be taken with a serious grain of salt, as many of them are innocuous mechanical issues where the flight crew is taking extra precautions. As Castelveter puts it, "Remember, when a red light goes on in the cockpit, the captain, in an abundance of caution, might opt to divert and have it checked out. That diversion or maintenance check has no reflection on safety."
This study only includes major U.S. carriers with a minimum of 600 flights a day on average. We calculated the number of incidents where the airlines were at fault and then divided that figure by the number of total annual flights, giving us an incident per flight ratio. We used the Aviation Herald and the Federal Aviation Administration as our sources, taking care to avoid duplicates. So, without further ado, we present you our list of America's Safest Airlines:
#8. JetBlue
Incidents per Flight: 0.0000776
17 documented incidents out of approximately 219,000 flights
With only 17 incidents out of approximately 219,000 flights in 2010, our "least safe" airline on this list is still absurdly safe. The most serious event occurred on Aug. 26 on Flight 262, when the plane’s parking brake became engaged during the approach and throughout the landing itself, resulting in a rough touch down at Sacramento International Airport (SMF) in California. All four main gear tires blew out and air traffic control noticed a small fire and some smoke near the landing gear, leading the pilot to order an evacuation. Seven passengers sustained minor injuries during the evacuation process.
#7. American Airlines
Incidents per Flight: 0.0000701
87 documented incidents out of approximately 1,241,000 flights
You know those times when pilots announce over the intercom that you should be seated and buckle up because there's going to be some turbulence ahead? Well, apparently, they're not kidding. While these incidents were not the fault of American Airlines (which means they don't count toward our incidents ratio), the airline had two significant events in 2010 that were turbulence-related. American Eagle (a regional affiliate of American Airlines) Flight 3224 had an incident on June 28 where severe turbulence led to the pilot declaring an emergency landing after a flight attendant told him that "she could not walk and a passenger [was] bleeding out of the mouth." The plane landed safely in Longview,Texas, but the flight attendant and passenger suffered serious injuries, while three other passengers incurred minor injuries.
The other American Airlines turbulence incident of note was Flight 20 on April 29, which resulted in one flight attendant receiving major injuries, and two attendants and three passengers suffering minor injuries.
#6. United Airlines
Incidents per Flight: 0.0000407
49 documented incidents out of approximately 1,204,500 flights
United had a scary moment on Jan. 10, 2010 when the plane’s landing gear on the right side did not fully deploy on Flight 634. Reportedly, the pilot gave fair warning, saying, "We are going to have an unusual landing." The crew initiated brace position and the plane landed in Newark, N.J. with the only partially deployed land gear, shooting sparks up along the runway. Passengers were evacuated by slides. Remarkably, only three passengers received minor injuries. As a courtesy, United refunded passengers' tickets and gave them vouchers toward future air travel.
#5. Delta Airlines
Incidents per Flight: 0.0000386
77 documented incidents out of approximately 1,994,725 flights
While all of these commercial planes have multiple engines (two to four, depending on the aircraft), the airlines take it very seriously when one does go down, usually diverting to a nearby airport. On Sept. 27, the pilot had to shut down the right-hand engine on Flight 116 from Atlanta, Ga. to Stuttgart, Germany, leading to a landing in St. John's, Canada. Four days later, the same plane had to shut down the same engine again. A similar incident occurred on Flight 1921 on Dec. 30, with two passengers obtaining minor injuries during the evacuation.
#4. Continental Airlines
Incidents per Flight: 0.0000260
23 documented incidents out of approximately 884,395 flights
One of Continental's more interesting incidents in 2010 was not the fault of the airline itself. Flight 239 was headed to Newark, N.J. from Miami, Fla. when the plane got too close for comfort with a Gulfstream II, coming within 1.04 miles laterally and 300 feet vertically of the business jet. Air traffic control error was cited as the cause, with the controller's training records showing "numerous recurring writeups for not maintaining positive control of situations, not taking timely action when required, and use of poor control judgment." There were no injuries suffered on board and no damage to the aircraft.
#3. US Airways
Incidents per Flight: 0.0000212
24 documented incidents out of approximately 1,131,865 flights
On Jan. 19, a US Airways Express regional flight overran the runway due to an incorrect flap setting. What's curious about this incident is that the National Transportation Safety Board found the probable cause to be the" flight crewmembers’ unprofessional behavior, including their nonadherence to sterile cockpit procedures by engaging in nonpertinent conversation, which distracted them from their primary flight-related duties and led to their failure to correctly set and verify the flaps."
Sometimes planes can find trouble before they even takeoff. On June 5, US Airways Flight 704 ran into Flight 413 while taxiing to a runway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in North Carolina. The taxiing airplane sustained only minimal damage, while Flight 413 received significant damage. There were no injuries on either airplane.
#2. Southwest Airlines
Incidents per Flight: 0.0000203
23 documented incidents out of approximately 1,131,500 flights
Two of Southwest's more troubling incidents in 2010 were related to cabin pressure. More specifically, the loss of it. Flight WN-778 was on its way to Austin, Texas from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. when it had to make an emergency descent due to loss of cabin pressure. The plane had to be diverted to Fort Myers, Fla. where three passengers were transported to local hospitals. Seven other passengers received medical attention at the airport. Flight WN-1777 also had to make an emergency descent near Birmingham, Vt. because of cabin pressure. While the experience must have been more than a little distressful for passengers (with oxygen masks dropping and everything), the plane landed safely with no reported injuries.
#1. AirTran
Incidents per Flight: 0.0000196
5 documented incidents out of approximately 255,500 flights
While all of the airlines on this list are safe, AirTran is the safest with the lowest number of documented incidents per flight in 2010. But even the victor isn't perfect. On Aug. 12, an engine cowling (the covering that is placed around the engine) separated mid-flight on Flight 807 from Indianapolis, Ind. to Baltimore, Md. The flight crew decided to divert to Dayton, Ohio, where they landed safely and without injury. As an interesting postscript, several metal fragments bearing the AirTran colors and "matching the paint scheme of Airtran engines" were discovered in fields near Knightstown, Ind. between Oct. 13 and Oct. 15. It is yet to be determined if the parts actually belonged to the airplane in question.

Neither beautiful nor meaningful wording makes you feel touching, but is because every single word hits the actual inner feeling of yours...
Don't you feel so? Because feel it, that's why read it....Neither beautiful nor meaningful wording makes you feel touching, but is because every single word hits the actual inner feeling of yours...

有人夫妻恩愛、月入數十萬,卻是有嚴重的不孕症;
有人才貌雙全、能幹多財,情字 路上卻是坎坷難行;
有人家財萬貫,卻是子孫不孝;
早期的撲滿都是陶器,一旦存滿了錢,就要被人敲碎;

如果有一天,你發現媽媽的廚房不再像以前那麼乾淨;
如果有一天,你發現家中的碗筷好像沒洗乾淨;
如果有一天,你發現母親的鍋子不再雪亮;
如果有一天,你發現父親的花草樹木已漸荒廢;
如果有一天,你發現家中的地板衣櫃經常沾滿灰塵;
如果有一天,你發現母親煮的菜太鹹太難吃;
如果有一天,你發現父母經常忘記關瓦斯;
如果有一天,你發現老父老母的一些習慣不再是習慣時,就像他們不再想要天天洗澡時;
如果有一天,你發現父母不再愛吃青脆的蔬果;
如果有一天,你發現父母愛吃煮得爛爛的菜;
如果有一天,你發現父母喜歡吃稀飯;
如果有一天,你發現他們過馬路行動反應都慢了;
如果有一天,你發現在吃飯時間他們老是咳個不停,千萬別誤以為他們感冒或著涼,(那是吞嚥神經老化的現象) ;
Drunk pilot jailed six months
George La Perle, from Boston, was stopped by security officers at Heathrow airport at 8.30am on November 1 last year because he reeked of alcohol, Isleworth Crown Court in west London was told.
When asked, the 49-year-old First Officer said he was flying to New York - when his actual destination was Detroit.
He was later discovered to have four-and-a-half times the legal amount of alcohol for pilots in his blood.
La Perle, who has 20 years of flying experience, was due to be one of three pilots in the cockpit of a Boeing 767, with 240 passengers on board.
He pleaded guilty to performing an aviation function with excess alcohol and was jailed on Friday, according to the Daily Mail, however, reports only began to circulate on Monday.
Judge Phillip Matthews told him: "The consequences for the passengers on that plane, if you had piloted for any stage of that journey, which was a distinct possibility bearing in mind that is what you were employed to do, were potentially catastrophic."

Part 1 - I wanna be a pilot!! But, HOW??
As usual, In a month, been few people asked me how to be a pilot.
The most surprising part is I was told.. "I wanna be a pilot and I think of applying it!"
while the other one asking for the info. of HOW TO BE A PILOT?
2 of my friends, they're basically doing their degree and soon to finish. Glad to hear it.
Well, I'm not so sure what has made them wanna be a pilot. Money? Career? Chicks? Job? Title? Status? Sound interesting? or.....? @@
Anyway, that's not my concerned and not my business at all.
If you sincerely dream/wish to be a pilot, go ahead. I will be here supporting all the information which you need to know.
Firstly, I wish you guys can understand for a thing. Aviation isn't the outlook you're currently can see. It has much things at behind which you still don't really know. Lets go for some examples/info.
Those who haven't read this 2011 news of aviation in Malaysia industry please read it up before you head towards aviation piloting field.
Click HERE
Well, no joke. I won't say it is 100% correct but it is as high as 90% the info. is correct.
Lets go into the chapter of....
"Application directly to Flying Academy"
In the past, when piloting was still an expensive course and the airlines was still growing gently..( before SARS, economy crisis and etc.) , market demands was really high for pilots. Airlines sends their cadets to the flying academy... with sponsorship.
Well, now, still the same. Due to the pilots' requirement has been loosen up, more and more people be able to achieve their dream and become a pilot (such as eyesight, height,... and etc).
Lets go straight to the point,
Neglect which course you graduate from. In Malaysia the min requirement//No matter how high your education level is, fall back to SPM certificate. In other meaning, take your SPM result out, make a photocopy->attach relevant documents->write a letter to DCA for approval in pursuing piloting course->wait the reply from DCA. If your SPM result for those subjects required are in credit, 100% you will get the approval from DCA to pursue your piloting course.
Piloting course takes min. 18 months. In this 18 months , it is provided that you pass the ground subject with 1st attempt, when schedule you for a flight, the weather is co-operate with you all the time (which means, you need not to keep canceling your flight for practicing purpose). Other than that will be hoping for no backlog. Then grad. in 18 months is a possible.
None of the flying academy at the moment provide neither sponsorship nor scholarship in piloting except airlines. Different airlines having different company policy. Bonding will be different as well.
Course fees for piloting is a plus minus of RM 250,000. (Depends on the fuel price which may fluctuate from time to time so with the currency to pounds/Europe money)
As per the chart, there are 8 Flying Academies in Malaysia. That's the latest info. on 18th Jan 2011. Anyway, for the academy in Sandakan, the flying school is no longer named as Austral Academy but is International Training Aero Academy, IATA (formerly known as IFAS/Austral Academy). From the chart above, check out which flying Academy you're interested to study at. (Based on your location, academy facilities, aircraft fleets, establishment and etc.. whichever you like. Next, google up the name and get the contact number and reach them. As simple as that.)
For Private student/application straight to the flying academy/self-sponsored,
Procedures are as follow,
1. SPM result, make a photocopy->attach relevant documents->write a letter to DCA for approval in pursuing piloting course->wait the reply from DCA. If your SPM result for those subjects required are in credit, 100% you will get the approval from DCA to pursue your piloting course.
2. Go to any panel doctor (Make an appointment 1st. list of the panel doctors is obtainable from the flying academy which you would like to join. From there, pick up a panel doctor which near to your current location.) -> do the medical check up -> Get your Class 1 medical.
*After step 1 and 2, call up your flying academy whether is there any entry test be conducted. (Lately, more and more flying academy starts to conduct entry test to eliminate those spoil apples. Prevent parents invest the wrong money for their child and to make sure the academy reputation is still up to the standard)
3. Go back to the flying Academy -> submit the approval letter from DCA + Class 1 medical report + Booking fees for your enrollment into that batch&1st payment(monthly installment) to the Academy (registration department).
The rest of it is...your own role, study, fly, tests, exams and pay.
*With the financial problem pilot wanna be, this is a No-Go course for you. Well, don't be so upset...lets check out the airlines ways. Never Give up! I will be here in guiding you. ;)
Private way... Solved!
Up coming post,...how to apply sponsorship/cadetship with airlines. =)

可能是被曾經最Close的朋友出賣;
可能是被曾經最信任的家人的一言一語所刺傷;
可能是被自己施在自己身上的壓力所折磨;
可能是被曾經自己最珍惜的事和物所傷害;

孤獨,不一定不快樂;
得到,不一定能長久;

What to do in order to marry with RICH people?
This is the real world. Fact is always cruel.
(Pardon me that...I'm not interested in translate this. It is one of my language as per in my 1st post. Therefore, those who can understand it, bear it in mind. Those who can't, use google translate then.)
Again i say, stop dreaming to marry with a rich fellow. Not say I dislike them. But is that dream is just damn freaking not realistic at all.!

Graduate pilots hit hard by job shortage
Graduate pilots hit hard by job shortage
Tuesday January 18, 2011
EXCLUSIVE
By RACHAEL KAM, FLORENCE A. SAMY and TEH ENG HOCK
ABOUT 500 pilots earned their wings and aimed for the sky – only to see their dreams come crashing. The reality is that there are few openings and the job shortage has hit them hard.
Most of these pilots, who graduated from the eight flying schools in the country, have been without a job for between one and two years.
Other developments:
> While the schools produced between 300 and 400 pilots annually in the last five years, their total intake for a year can reach up to 800.
> The biggest airline operator – Malaysia Airlines — only takes in about 100 pilots or so and its priority is its own trainee pilots.
> The problem of surplus pilots will be further compounded when more join the group this year.
> Don’t be idle, take courses to keep flying skills intact, Department of Civil Aviation flight operations director Capt Datuk Yahaya Abdul Rahman tells fresh pilots.

Flying dreams a pie in the sky
PETALING JAYA: Up to 500 licensed junior pilots in Malaysia have not been able to take to the skies in the last two years. There are just not enough jobs for them.
The number of flying schools have quadrupled from two about three years ago to eight now, resulting in an oversupply of fresh pilots vying for the limited number of positions as airline trainee pilots.
While the schools produced between 300 and 400 pilots annually in the last five years, their total intake for a year can reach up to 800, given that the course takes between 18 months and two years.
They would graduate with 200 hours under their belt, enabling them to only fly small aircrafts below 5,700kg.
But this does not qualify them to fly for an airline, which would require at least 1,500 flight hours and further intensive type training and stringent tests. Only then would they qualify for an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
Last year, the country’s two major airlines – Malaysia Airlines Bhd and AirAsia – each hired only an average of 100 graduates each for their airline pilot training programme.
The Department of Civil Aviation’s (DCA) flight operations director Capt Datuk Yahaya Abdul Rahman said that about 70% of the 400 fresh graduate pilots would be employed by local airlines.
Capt Yahaya said that previously, most students were sponsored by airlines which would then recruit them upon graduation.
“These days, half of them are private students whose parents have paid for their course.”
He agreed that presently, the number of pilots graduating from flying schools was growing faster than the recruitments.
“From 2005 to 2009, a total of 1,513 locals and 110 foreigners graduated from the flying schools. The number has been increasing every year,” he said.
Back in the 1990s, Malaysia had only one flying school in Malacca, which produced 70 pilots annually.
Capt Yahaya, however, dispelled speculation that the oversupply was due to local airlines preferring to hire foreign pilots.
“Local airlines need to keep a small number of foreign captains with at least 15 to 20 years’ or 5,000 flying hours’ experience.
“Fresh pilots are usually taken in as co-pilots. They will later be upgraded to senior co-pilots and then captains when they have achieved the necessary flying hours.”
Given the rapid growth of the airline industry and continuous expansion of major local industry players, he believed that demand for pilots was on the rise.
He encouraged fresh pilots who are jobless to join DCA’s three-month instructor’s programme to keep their flying skills intact.

Ensure pilots meet the standards, says MAS
PETALING JAYA: There must be controls and proper tests in place to ensure those taking pilot courses meet the stringent standards required by airlines, said Malaysia Airlines operations director Capt Azharuddin Osman.
“The aviation industry in Malaysia is small with only two major airlines. If not properly controlled we will have an over supply of ‘under-qualified’ pilots,” he said, adding that MAS currently had 1,400 pilots.
On average, MAS recruited 100 cadets into its full scholarship cadet programme every year. For every 16 that apply, only one gets in.
Capt Azharuddin said pilots had to clock in at least 4,000 hours to captain a narrow body aircraft like a Boeing 737, which could take between eight to 10 years before progressing to a widebody aircraft.
“With the right qualifications, their chances of being employed by an airline would be better,” he said.
AirAsia had about 120 recruits last year.
Firefly’s marketing and communications head Angelina Corrina Fernandez said the frequency of the intake for new pilots depended on their network expansion.
Malaysian Flying Academy Sdn Bhd’s Lt Col (Rtd) Frank Chong Keng Lay acknowledged there was an oversupply of fresh graduate pilots, but said the situation would improve.
“Demand for pilots come in a cycle. For example, there was a shortage in 1995 as the enrolment was low.
“Recently, the intake is higher but the demand from airlines has not been growing at the same pace.”

Sometimes, it’s a long wait in the wings
PETALING JAYA: The road to becoming a commercial airline pilot is tough, as any cadet pilot will tell you.
Yet, many of the unemployed pilots are confident of landing a job, even if it means waiting for more than a year.
Mohd Zakaria, 24, said his batch of 24 students enrolled in 2008 but only one got a job.
“The industry needs a lot of pilots and finding a job also has to do with the timing of the intake.
“If you graduate and just missed the job intake, you would probably have to wait a year or so before the next window opens.
“But we are confident the industry will continue to grow.
“The risk is there and the competition is stiff.
“That is why we have to shine and stand out from the rest,” he said.
He added that he wanted to become a commercial pilot and did not want to join a flying club.
A 22-year-old cadet pilot said he waited almost a year before landing an interview with a local airline company with no guarantee of a job.
“I had about 20 students in my batch who graduated a year ago but only two or three landed jobs.
“It’s a long process, from the interview to qualifying as a passenger airline pilot,” he said.
Pilot, radio deejay and TV personality Johan Farid Khairuddin, 30, said the misperception among young graduates was that they would land a job with an airline immediately after graduating from flying school.
“Some think that you must fly with a major airline to become a pilot.
“But there are other jobs out there, such as flying instructors or being part of a flying tour.
“Some young pilots have told me they are not employed because they want a major airline opportunity,” he said.
Johan Farid, who has been flying since 2004, said there was a shortage of captains in the industry but a surplus of fresh cadet pilots and flying schools.
A 29-year-old pilot expressed surprise over the high number of flying schools in the country.
“The supply now definitely outweighs the demand.
“It was easier to get jobs several years ago when there were not many graduates or schools,” he said.
